Anxiety disorders are a category of neurotic disorders with anxiety as a prominent or the prominent symptom. They are quite common (in a recent British survey 16% of the population suffer from some kind of pathological anxiety). According to the ICD-10 (international classification of diseases - 10th edition) anxiety disorders are classified as follows:
- Agoraphobia (with or without panic disorder)
- Social phobias
- Specific (isolated) phobias
- Panic disorder
- Generalised anxiety disorder
- Mixed anxiety and depressive disorder
