Tell me more about liposuction and cosmetic weight loss surgery. Is surgery a way of getting rid of superfluous fat?

Answer:

Liposuction is only intended for localized fatness, it isn't a general fat reduction method. If there are limited disfiguring regions of fat tissue which cannot be removed by exercise or a change of diet, then liposuction may be found appropriate for treating some of them.

Some patients who have reduced their weight considerably are left with loose hanging skin on their body. In certain cases, this is very disfiguring and is the cause of considerable mental anguish. This surplus skin can be cut away by a cosmetic operation.

If you consider having a cosmetic operation, it is essential to choose a plastic surgeon who is recognized as skilful and experienced. Plastic operations are expensive, but in some cases the authorities or health insurance will pay for it.
