What is the somatic syndrome? When do we say that someone suffers from it?

The somatic syndrome is considered present when more than four of the following features are present:
- Anhedonia (feeling unhappy)
- Loss of reactivity (loss of emotional reactivity to normally pleasurable surroundings and events)
- Early waking (>2 hours early)
- Psychomotor retardation or agitation
- Marked loss of appetite
- Weight loss >5% of body mass in one month
- Loss of libido
