Does the risk for child abuse depend on the age of the child?

Answer:

The risk for child sexual abuse (CSA) rises with age. According to a 1998 study of child abuse statistics from the American Department of Health and Human Services ( Putnam 2003 , 1993) the prevalence of CSA is distributed over different ages in the following way:

Age	Percentage of all CSA
0-3 years	appr. 10 %
4-7 years	appr. 28 %
8-11 years	appr. 26 %
12 and older	appr. 36 %
