Abstract:
Various urges within yourself drive in different directions.
Question:
Why do I sometimes behave well, and sometimes not?
Answer:
There are various urges within us which drive us in different directions. There are more primitive ones which sometimes drive us to act in ways we later regret. But there are also sensible urges which help us to manage reality properly. The primitive urges often want to conceal unpleasant feelings.
Addiction of various kinds is the wrong way to solve personal problems. We avoid unpleasant feelings temporarily, but after intoxication or a food orgy the problems feel just as difficult or worse than before.
When you manage to act sensibly it is a step in the right direction. You have learnt to say stop when addiction would draw you into its misery.
