I had an affair w/ this guy while I had a boyfriend of 6 years (he was not seriously discussing marriage but did not want a break-up). Despite him asking me to break-up w/ my 6yr bf, I did not want to start a serious relationship w/ him as he was fired from his job 4 months into our relationship. I guess he started looking around and found a nice girl from a conservative family. She's 10 yrs younger than me. I found out though that while he was courting her(this overlapping my affair w/ him), he lied about his job status. It has been 14 mos since they started seeing each other and the girl still thinks he is actually working. All their dates have been out of credit cards. He even used up his unemployment checks. In the meantime, here I am I found myself being codependent on him. I fell for him, thinking I can help him w/ food and besides I was too lonely in my 6year relationship. So he ends up having me and this girl. He likes to maintain his fantasy relationship w/ her. The girl and her family think he is a professional w/ a doctorate degree and actually getting a paycheck each month. Finally our love triangle was put to a test and he admits to his infidelity to the girl w/ me in the picture. He chooses her by way of a 3way conversation over the phone and how I was the misfit, despite me supporting him all this time. I have been emotionally bankrupt despite the fact that I am so in love w/ him. I pay for all our dates and the last straw was when he stood me up to go to an expensive concert in favor of the girl. Out of impulse and anger, I talked to the girl and revealed how he has been jobless all along, throughout their courtship and this definitely devastated my man. Do all of us need psychiatric help to sort all emotions out? Is his lying/pretending a psychiatric disorder? Thanks

It sounds to me as if your friend has an Antisocial Personality Disorder. He feeds on you and lies. On top of that he is promiscuous.

It’s easy to fall in love with his type because of their charm, but the wisest thing for you to do is to get out of this relationship as fast as possible.

Take care.
