What are the withdrawal symptoms when stopping using Escitalopram (Lexapro, Cipralex), and how can they be avoided?
Answer:
It is best to talk to your doctor before stopping to use anti-depressant medicines. Problems when stopping using Escitalogram (LexaPro, Cipralex) according to the manufacturer, have included:
- depressive feelings
- irritability
- agitation
- dizziness
- sensory disturbances (e.g. electric shock sensations)
- anxiety
- confusion
- headache
- lethargy
- emotional lability
- insomnia
- hypomania
Reduding the dose gradually, such as with a certain percentage each week, will reduce the risk of side effects. Discuss such a reduction plan with your doctor before acting on it. You can buy tools at the pharmacy, which will cut tablets into parts to reduce dosage. Some medicines can also be bought in different sizes.
