Are there risk factors for suicides?

It has been gathered that statistically high risk indicators for suicide are:

Male gender.

Older age.
-
Single status, particularly if recent - that is, through divorce or bereavement.

Current physical ill health, particularly if painful, debilitating or life-threatening.

Previous acts of deliberate self-harm.

Excessive alcohol use.
