It is hard to tell other people that you are addicted; you don't know how they will react. So you often keep silent. Most addicts keep it a secret, because they don't want others to think negatively about them. You want to be considered a nice person, be appreciated, and you don't want to be judged negatively. However, the question is whether everybody will really think negatively about you when you tell them about your addiction. Some people are concerned and want to help; others feel honoured to be taken into your confidence. Also, your doctor can offer some support. If it is still difficult for you, you can call certain telephone numbers for assistance to share your problem and to talk about it more easily. You can register yourself at a health care center without other people knowing about it. With the help of a therapist you may later admit your addiction.
