Abstract:

Is a drink before going to sleep an effective sleeping pill?

Question:

What effects can a drink before going to sleep have on a sleeping disorder?

Answer:

In our society it is still believed that alcohol before going to bed is a good help for sleeping disorders or at least makes it easier to fall asleep.

Less known is the fact that alcohol can cause problems during the sleep when the effects are starting to fade and a vegetative counterregulation takes place.

This does not affect young people as they are sleeping deeply but already at the age of 45, the sleep quantity is changing in a way that makes it possible for alcohol to disturb the sleeping process.
