Abstract:

Is it possible through genetic tests to predict cancer?

Question:

Are there genetic tests for cancer diagnosis? Can you find or rule out cancer with genetic tests?

Answer:

Some malignant cancers have a strong family history and therefore inheritance. This genetic risk can be predicted for in certain cancers by looking at the history, ie the collection of family history and their own pre-existing conditions if necessary, and laboratory tests for detection of gene mutations or characteristics indicating an increased genetic risk of cancer.

This can be important for the possible introduction of additional regular medical examinations.
