Boyfriend gives mixed messages

My boyfriend and I were dating, he wanted a break to think about things. he keeps giving me mixed feelings whether he wants to be with me and I cant continue not knowing and living in limbo.
The break has already been 3 months.
When I speak to him about it he says he cant give me an answer just yet?
I dont want to live in false hope.
