hi,
Me and my wife are married for 8 years having two children aged 7 and 3. We are from India but both now working in Saudi Arabia. She is a good wife and a great mother. She is a medical professional.
She sometimes go through severe mood swings (especially when she is stressed) which makes her depressed and very tired and she says she feel helpless. She fights violently for small things. This started with her first delivery. We used to fight a lot a earlier when she had the mood swings, but now I understand her condition and try to solve the issues softly. I try my best to calm her down saying that she is stressed and needs rest. I am afraid to tell her that she needs psychiatric help because I feel that it may worsen her disease. I do not want to tell her that she is ill. But once she is through with the mood swing , she herself says she is having some problem. She is able to handle her job very well even she is stressed. Her father also had similar mood swings but in a much lesser proportion.
My question to you is whether I should really tell her that she is ill and take her to a psychiatrist or bear the mood swings myself.
Thanks a lot ,
Good day
Women naturally have these mood swings due to their hormones. If your wife was ill, she would not be able to functon at work. When she is low, she needs you emotional support and when she is normal again, she can suceed on her own. It is good that you are not fighting anymore as that is the last thing she needs when she is low. Just be a loving, caring and understanding hasband when she is low and you will help her to recover much quicker.
