My wife and I recently went to the local mental health clinic... We saw two different evaluators. From talking to my wife, we said many of the same things to our evaluators: thoughts of suicide, periodic bouts of despondency, extended, chronic depression, feelings of hopelessness. Add to my list intermittant flashes of physical harm to others, harming myself after getting angry, and (to me) serious rage issues... My wife was put on lexipro, bloodwork done, a thyroid screen ordered, and scheduled for follow-up appointments, and on the first such appointment, diagnosed with severe depression and major psychotic issues. I was told that I was fine, just a little anxiety. I have had feelings and episodes in match with what I have read about bipolarity and just want someone who knows what they are doing to evaluate me. Top this all off with the fact that three days ago, we were evicted... I mention this because I would normally go to the hospital and have them check me out there, but I am not sure if they will want to hospitalize me, and not having somewhere for my wife to go, I will not take the chance. Please, HELP ME!!!

Go to the hospital again and trust the experts there to make their best to help you become well. If they want to hospitaliza you it is because they feel it to be necessary for your recovery. They will not keep you there longer than necessary. You will be a better support to your wife if you try to get better. The doctor can get help in diagnosis by tests and diagnostic charts but an experienced psyciatrist understands what illness the patient suffers from and can then suggest the correct treatment.
