question
My father has some defect in his personality due to which he cannot appreciate other people's hard work or encourage others for doing things that they may be capable of doing. For e.g:- he wouldn't encourage his son to have his own family just because he believes it was a hard work for him, implying that it would be something similar for his children as well. He wants to keep them under his check about everything they do. The difficult part is that i seek exactly what my father cannot give to me, i.e encouragement. Because he has given me everything else i wanted and so i always turn to him for getting my needs satisfied. However, without the moral support, other things don't matter as much. How do i learn to give up on my urge to get moral support from my father at any cost, even if he is not able to provide it?
