question
Five years ago I became suddenly paraplegic. Before that I had a very active family group. Since I have been sick and in a wheelchair and cannot do many of the things I did before, one by one my family members have dropped away and now will have nothing to do with me. I try to maintain a positive outlook and do not talk about my disease or anything. What is the psychology behind the families behavior. I have heard that it is common.

I am afraid you are right. Health and money attract people. Illness does not. You may need to find friends on your own level or below, if you do not want to be alone.
