I have a friend whom I have know for 9 years now. Her son and my son are best friends and have playdates every Tuesday. Her son has ADHD. Anyways, I have noticed in the last few years how she flys off the handle so easily over something very simple. She overprotects her son who has ADHD and he is going on 10 years old. She treats and talks to her son like he is 2 or 3 years old, and I personally think that is wrong, her son gets away with so much and she doesn't see it. Anyways the other day it was her son and my sons playdate but my son didn't get all his homework done that day and the rule in our household is that he is suppose to get his homework down before play. Well I called his mother and told him that my son couldn't play today and she just completely flew off her handle, she hung up the phone on me. The next day she was to come over to babysit my 3 year old and 9 month old as I had a doctors appt. She showed up very very cold to me, she wouldn't hardly say a word. Uusally she is pretty happy and she play with my two little kids, actaully she acts like a kid herself. But when I got back from my doctor appt. and it was time for her to leave she basically read me the right act, she flew off the handle and got so mad because we disrupted her sons playdate and her son had a total meltdown and she had to deal with that all night long. SHe told me that we are too strict raising our kids and she just went crazy bacially telling us how to raise our kids, her face was so red you couldn't even talk to her, she was so mad over something that was not a big deal. Anyway, this is only one of her episodes, I have seen it over and over again how she just flys off the handle, she can't control her attitude, she accuses and she assumes things that are just not right. She lost her job this summer and she is going on 50 years old, I know she is depressed, she even said so herself. Well her and I had a falling out, since she jumped down my throat I jumped down her throat the next day. I was so mad at her. She seems crazy to me. One moment she is happy and the next moment if something doesn't go her way she flys off the high horse. I called her husband and talked to him about this and he says she is depressed, and I asked why doesn't she go to the doctor about it...he says she won't. She treated my son last summer like crap at her house and I didn't like that at all..but I let if blow over as I knew she was depressed of losing her job, her mothers health was deterioting, and with her son having ADHD is a challenge. So I wonder if this is just depression or maybe bi-polar or maybe her hormones are out of whack, she is in the menopause age group as well. There has been more than one of these incidents wheres she just goes crazy and doesn't act like an adult. Let me know what your opionion is on this.
