I have been taking ambien for a month now to help me adjust to a CPAP machine. I have severe sleep apnea. I am uncomfortable about continuing this routine but can't seem to sleep without the drug. It is essential that I adjust to this cumbersome machine or I am at higher risk for heart attack and stroke. My GP and psychiatrist say not to worry about it, but what I've read makes me nervous. Should I wait til June to go off the medication when I am not working or should I try to wean myself off it as soon as possible? What sort of help/support, if any, do you advise? Many thanks.

Sally
