Dear Sir/Mdm,

I have been suffering from a minor depression,as I have just break off with my boyfriend of 2 years,he has another woman outside which I have caught red-handed.I am very upset and this has greatly affect my daily routine and work.As I am a cabin crew,I am unable to sleep well whenever I travel to another country. To add on,I took a 2 week leave which I have been coping myself at home, doing nothing. I have visited a few doctors, however, they feel that I am fine.Recently,I begin to start flying and life has gradually been on the road to recovery. However,I begin to be very paranoid over complexion,I have dark circle, eye bags and an outbreak of pimples.I am very upset.Everytime I look into the mirror,I will start to cry and often have the thought of commiting suicide. However, the thought was abonded after talking with some of my friends. But frequently, the thought will come back to me again.I being to feel very stress over my complexion and start to have sleepless night.Everynight,I will bound to toss and turn on the bed before getting into my sleep, and at times I might also can't sleep at all. Is it because that I have too much sleep in the day time, that is the reason why I cant sleep in the night? For example, when I touch down in the morning,I will sleep from 9pm to 5pm,and in the night I begin to be very awake and start to have the thought of sucide and can't sleep. Please help me, as I have tell myself that I can't continue with my life in this manner, however,I am just so upset over my complexion. (I have seen a doctor and are consuming some antibotics). PLease HELP!!!!

Your symptoms might be related to a condition called attachment disorder or "minor depression". The loss of your partner caused a severe impairment to your self-esteem. Attractiveness seems to be very important to you. This might be related to your job, but there are a lot of personal strengths and qualities that make up a personality.

Sometime the self-awareness of the body is severely disturbed in a crisis. For some patients this is a very severe problem called body dysmorphic disorder. Anyway, I do not think this is the right diagnosis for you. But you should not worry about the eye bags or minor changes of your skin. These are related to sadness and your present depressive mood.

You need to increase pleasure and positive activities in your life. You must start to organize your life without this guy.

Medication might be a good help. SSRI antidepressants (Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) like Prozac are very effective for minor depression. This would be my first suggestion since you might not be able to follow a psychotherapy with your job.
