sad
I have been seeing a phsychotherapist for 3 1/2 years. I have grown extremely close to her and even feel that I love her. My problem is that my husband wants to move to a different area (1400KM away from where we are now). I am also quite keen on moving, but there are a few reasons why I dont want to, one being my Mom is here and the second that I cant bear the thought of not seeing my therapist again. I really love her, and sometimes even wonder about me maybe being gay. I am hoping you can help me to make choice about wether I would be able to cope without her. When I discussed it with her, she said that she would be really sad if I left because we have such a good relationship, but if I would be happy then she would want me to go. Sorry, this is all rather muddled, but I would really appreciate the extra advice.

A psychotherapist should help you to cope with your problems, but not be a part of your life. If you start loving your therapist, you should stop seeing her, as you do not have a therapeutic relation anymore.

According to Freud many patients have a stage during therapy of loving their therapist, a stage which can be passed. Feeling love for your therapist can be a way of experimenting with feelings, rather than a lasting love.

You need not change to a new psychotherapist abruptly, and your therapist should help you handle the change of not going to her any more.
