Abstract:
The therapist should encorage the patients to recognize and fully experience their full real feelings.
Question:
How do you learn separating hunger and nutritional satisfaction from other feelings?
Answer:
The therapist should not inform patients how they feel and what is wrong
with them. Psychoanalytical interpretations may make eating disorder
patients even more confused. The therapist should encourage patients to
experience their feelings and discover what needs to be done to solve the problems themselves. The conversation between patients and therapist is a process gradually producing small improvements in their awareness.
