I had an odd situation come up. My son L**** who was 5 at the time got very attached to our family physcian. This Dr, delivers babies so naturally when I got pregnant I saw him instead of a regular OB so I was in there when I was sick for regular pre-natal visits and also when my son was sick. I knew every thing from my Dr's kids name to his Anniversary by the time I had my 2nd son and finally felt comfortable enough with him to tell him a number of very sensitive emotional issues. When the baby was about 6 mos old I took him and my oldest son in where my oldest son proceeded to ask him if he'd ever eat dinner with us he did this while I was busy scheduling an appointment so I couldn't stop him at 1st my Dr said he had to work and my 5 year old said please please please and I heard my Dr say Well maybe someday. I didn't give this a lot of thought until my 5 year old kept talking about it continously and I wrote my Dr a letter asking him to be more careful with his promises and explained the situation. A week later I recieved a letter of dissmissal. I am now very depressed over this situation and feel very lost because I really came to value this Dr. especially in light of the fact he saved my babies life when his heart rate bottomed out, but also the childhood traumas a I spoke to him about was hard to talk about I wouldn't talk to just any one. How do I deal with this. I feel like I've been abandoned all over a small misunderstanding. I wasn't even really mad over the situation just frustrated.
Write him a letter about your point of view and ask him to take you back as a patient. He might have been afraid of doing something unethical. Doctors have to be very careful. There is always a risk that they will be prosecuted for wrong treatment.
