question
I can't tolerate distractions may it be from the speech of others talking in the room or even the noise of the fan. It seems my ideal environment is noiseless without any external stimuli or disturbance of any kind. Is jungle the only place for me to be?

I am afraid you will be disturbed in the jungle as well.

There is a tendency that noise containing information is more stressful than voice which does not give meaningful information, like white noise. Some people feel that artificial white noise can help reduce disturbing noise. (White noise is the noise some TV sets make when not tuned to any station.) Thus, human voices, which does contain lots of information, is extra stressful.

Hypnosis has been used to treat people who are overly disturbed by noise. General anxiety treatment sometimes helps.
