question
My question is about a family member. She is 28 yrs. old and has been taking anti-depressants and anti anxiety meds for quite some time. There have been no visits to therapists for at least 2 yrs. until recently. The therapist assessed her and then took her off of her meds. cold turkey. I thought that patients are weaned off of meds or would something else have been said or done in the Dr.s office?? Thankyou for any info. you can give me. Judy

If a person has been taking large doses of anti-anxiety medicines, a competent psychiatrist will usually not get her to stop all at once, but taper the dosage off over a longer period.

Read more about stopping using anti-anxiety medicines.

Read more about withdrawal from anti-depressants.
