question
My friend has occasional visual hallucinations. He has no other symptons listed in text books to be diagnosed w/ schizophrenia. He is a A/B collage student, artistic, has a healthy social life, works part-time and does not exhibit any other mental illness sympton. He does not drink, smoke or use any other illicit drugs. Is there any other ailment that should be considered?

Ask your friend to contact a psychiatrist. If he is suffering from schizophrenia, the prognosis is much better, if he gets treatment as soon as possible. But many people have occasional hallucinations without being diagnosed as schizophrenic.

Is he using any drugs or narcotics? Many drugs, both prescription and narcotics, can cause hallucinations. Hallucinations when going to sleep or waking up also occur.

Here is a list of all Web4Health articles which contain the word "Hallucinations".
