question
Our teenage daughter had been having difficulties with depression, impulsive behaviors, cutting and bulimia a year earlier. Our family relationships and communication had been so great before this point, we didn't know where it was all coming from. We sought therapy but came short of answers. My daughter then recalled that she had been molested by two different children, school friends, over a period of several years during play visits to their houses. She's discussed some sexual confusion feelings. We thought we'd found the answer and things improved greatly in her overall demeanor as we continued to talk through it with her, listening, encouraging, and affirming. But this evening she came to me weeping, talking about a peculiar memory problem where she has memories of things she knows never happened. Some memories result in bruises that she claims may be self inflicted. I am very alarmed and don't know if this is a symptom of a displaced major sexual trauma, or a psychiatric issue. She will not go to a therapist and forcing her to go before not only produced nothing in the way of help to her, but set her trust for us back many steps. We are the ones she confides in, especially me, her mother. I want her to feel safe enough to keep talking freely. She has chunks of time that she cannot remember. Can you give us any guidance or insight?

Rosen Therapy can help your daughter reveal hidden emotions. It is not psychotherapy.
