question
In my Al Anon Adult Children of alcoholics we have been discussing the various characteristics of an adult child.

We have been puzzling over why we have such difficulty in completing a project. We all find we start out so enthusiastic, but it fizzles out, we lose interest.

Can it be because promises were broken by our alcoholic parent? I have a problem with this, as I don't recall any promises of something nice or exciting being made to me as a child for them to be broken.

Life was however unpredictable and uncertain and it was best to keep quiet and out of the way.

To be able to complete a project, you have to learn how to work hard and be goal orientated. Children of alcoholics have never learnt this from their parents.

Read more about children of alcoholics.

Read more about thinking constructively.
