question
I'm an 18 year old boy, a first year student from IIT Kharagpur, one of the most prestigious engineering colleges in India.
Hence there is competition from the some of the most brilliant students in India. Before i came here, i was among the most brilliant kids in my school. So i am not used to so much competition. I somehow messed up a few tests in the early days of the first semester. I know that it was because of my own lethargy & laziness but after that i'm suffering from lack of self-confidence. Many people other than me fared badly in the first few exams but bounced back when it really mattered. I couldn't & as a result got many C's & D's. Whenever i try to study seriously the memories of my first semester keep coming back to me.
Please help me find a way to forget my failures & to concentrate on the task ahead.

You are still among the most brilliant students in India. But now you are together with other brilliant students and not with average people. If you cannot put yourself together and start working hard, you need to find the kind of job you can get without studies. Thinking about the alternatives usually makes people more interested in studying.
