Hello. I love to excersize and excersize, on average, thirty minutes a day (sometimes 10-20 vigorously if I'm strapped for time and sometimes 45-60 if I have a lot of time and I'm feeling lazy, usually occuring on a Sunday). I'm a 17 year old girl. I used to have my periods really heavy, in fact, I used to have them for two weeks. Then after a few years, I just got them for a week and a half. For the past three months, I have been doing quite a bit of vigorous excersize (I run for 20 minutes every second day and do weight training every other day) and have lost my period entirely (though my last period had some blotching). This has been going on for about four months, and before that, I was starting to get periods that lasted only a few days and looked like the end of my periods. I know this is most likely linked to my excersize, though I feel like I'm not doing *that* much. I'm 5'3 and 105-110 pounds, so I'm not underweight but I'm below average. I don't have a lot of muscle mass, in fact, it takes me a really long time to gain any muscle. My question is:

Can I continue this lifestyle even if I continue to get no period? Is it safe to not have a period?

If you have less than 22 % fat in your body, the body thinks that you are starving, and your periods will stop. Discuss this with a gynaecologist.

If you are eating too litte, and if this is the cause of missing periods, you may be unhealthily underweight. You can check this by computing your body mass index.
