I have been on Seroxat due to panic attacks for 5 years. In that time I have gained 5 stone weight. I discussed this with my psychiatrist who would not believe me that the medication caused the weight but changed me to Lexapro 3 weeks ago. I feel I am going insane (only for Xanax which I take when necessary) I really don't know where I would be. I really don't want to go on with my mind as it is. I cannot control the constant panic and have no interest at all.
Before using medicine I would try psychotherapy. I only recommend medicine if psychotherapy does not help. Psychotherapy is often very effective in curing panic attacks. And in psychotherapy you will learn to understand your emotions instead of trying to subdue them with drugs. Such understanding will make you into a more healthy and balanced person, able to solve your problems in a more responsible way.
