Four days ago my mom called me at college and told me that my dad called her and told her that she didn't have to worry about him anymore, and a gun went off. He didnt succeed in the attempt. She was out of town and scared so I drove home, when I arrived home the next day he was like a scared child sitting in the dark. After about an hour of consoling him my mom came home, he took a shower, and seemed to just snap out of it. About five months ago his mother got sick and my parents have been traveling to visit her on the weekends. Prior to my grandmother's illness they barely talked for 10 years. My mom has told me about how rough my fathers family life was he was younger, and since he has started to see her again he has become short with my mother and starting alot of arguements. He also has a very stressful job, but before my grandmother's illness my parents hardly ever argueed.
The next day we all got up and went to visit the family doctor, it is a doctor our family trusts very much. He said it may be a hormone deficiency, and perscribed him, Liptopril, i think is the name, or it is very similar (in name). It is supposed to take seven days to begin working. The doctor knew what happened because my mom slipped him a note before my father went in, because she was scared he would be embarrassed to tell him the whole truth.
It has been around five days and he is fine around me, but my mother says he is still argueing with her when I am not around. I will have to go back to school soon and I really don't know what to do. Should I wait and see if the medicine starts working, or ask him to see a counselor. I don't think he will go and I am scared to leave my mom alone, because the whole situation is wearing on her.
Thank You,
Brandon
