I have a problem or should i say my roommate does. She has been acting extremely erratic lately...for about the last 4 months or so. She is claiming to hear voices from the mother goddess telling her New York is going to be destroyed. She is also spending ALOT of time locked in her room by herself. When i knock on her door she flips out and starts screaming at me.

A few weeks ago we had a marching band come down our street and she out on the front porch and gave them the finger and shouted Fuck You multiple times at them.

Now just the other day she attacked me. She was sitting in the kitchen with her hands in her head and i asked her what was wrong and she jumped up and started to scream at me and spit in my face and push and shove me saying i disrespected her by taking her (dry) laundry out of the dryer and putting it on her bed in her bedroom.

This scared the heck out of me and i have been spending the last few days a a friends house.

What should i do about this behavior ? and should i be worried about my safety ?

Your friend might be mentally ill. She needs treatment. It happens that mentally ill people do terribly thing. There is reason to be careful. Do not share room with her anymore. Ask a grown up person to find a psychiatrist for your roommate.
