I've read that infatuation is something that doesn't last, and it's more chemistry and idealization of someone (basically, a crush). Love may start from it, but is more solidly based in knowledge, companionship, communication, shared experiences and so on.
I would like to understand better where I stand in this. I met a man 12 years ago, whom I've liked and cared about ever since. We seldom see each other, there is chemistry and mutual attraction, but I know many of his virtues and flaws and I keep caring for him anyway. We know each other very little from emails and calls, more from what family and friends tell us about the other's life. So, I know, it's not infatuation, because, it has lasted, and I don't see him as a "knight in shinning armor" (armor is quite rusted by the way), and I don't love him, because we lack the knowledge, time, communication and reciprocity to term my feelings as love. So, I am confused about what my feelings are, and how they can be explained.
Thanks
