My 14 yr. old son has been dealing with severe on and off nausea for two years now. He was worked up initially by two separate Boston GI's, including MRI, endoscope, neuro exam, and psych exam. I guess as a default they diag the illness as stress/school related. He has ADD and has been bullied his whole life in school. He doesn't do well socially and kids pick on him for it. He is also not willing to go back to therapy. He is on 63.5 mg zoloft, upped from 25mg, 10 days ago. He weighs 103 lbs. My question - this nausea has a life of it's own. When he gets it, it can last 3-6 wks. He misses school a lot. How does this work? Why does it last so long and then gradually go away only to come back again. Each time dose of zoloft is upped a bit. I could see if he reacted to each incident by getting nauseous but this is continuous. He has it this week while on school vacation. We don't believe he's school phobic - he does want to go and the bullying is not that bad anymore as the school has a no tolerance policy. Could this be like a post-traumatic syndrome from all the pain in his earlier years? Help - I just feel so bad for him.

Thanks for listening.
