my question is: My son is a typical kid, maybe he is a little wild sometimes(he is 10)and i am a mother totally against ritalin. My child is not allowed in our school unless he is on ritalin. I have put him on the herbal ritalin and they still won't let him in school. They send him home from school when there is only a half an hour left because they say his medicine is wearing off. They phone social services on me because they think i don't put him on it. What they don't realize is that i am doing this to my child(putting him on ritalin) so that he can go to school. I don't know what to do? Is it my fault, my kids fault, or do the teachers not know how to handle kids? They give him heck when he gets to school because he is hoarsing around, but what kids don't fool around with there friends when they get to school? Can i go further with this? How can i help my child? signed frusterated parent

Your son needs ritalin to function in school. I think the right thing is to give it to him. If the effect wears off too quickly, give him a version with delayed absorbation, so that it lasts longer.
