I have taken Paxil, Zoloft, and Effexor in the past for anxiety. Now I am taking Lexapro. It seems now that my main problem all along is OCD but no doctor has ever said thats what I have. AFter doing my own research I think I have it. Is OCD best treated with higher doses of SSRI's? I am taking 20 mg. of Lexapro today. What do you think I should do? Someone told me that OCD is not helped by low doses of these medicines. Thank, Ed

There are different therapy options. For many patients with ocd a combination of SSRI medication with higher doses of the SSRI (40-80 mg) and cognitive behavioural therapy is most effective. Discuss this issue with your local doctors. You might suggest to try a higher dose of Lexapro, but do not try without permission of your doc.
