I have seen doctors for several years about my anxiety. They have always said that I was just GED but over the years it has gotten worse. The SSRI's have helped me not be depressed but my anxiety has gotten worse. After doing research I think I have OCD. I have heard that SSRI's don't work on OCD until you have I higher does. Am I right? No SSRI has ever done anything with my anxiety. Should I be on a much higher dose? I take Klonopin but I don't want to be on I very long. Even though I helps with my phisical anxiety, it doesnt' help with my obsessive thoughts and actions. Please help.
Yes, SSRIs often have to be given in high doses to help against OCD. Cognitive psychotherapy also works, and combining SSRIs with psychotherapy can be even better. Contact a psychiatrist to get a correct diagnosis and follow her instructions carefully.
