My daughter has been treated for an eating disorder for about four years. Her diagnosis is anorexia with bulimic tendencies. She is 19 years old.

About three months ago she had her gall bladder removed because of pain related to gall bladder sludge. A month later she was hospitalized again with an infection related to the surgery. During her hospitalization, her doctors were concerned because it was apparent the pills she was given for pain, etc. were being thrown up three and four hours later, still intact. After and emptying test she was diagnosed as having gastricparesis. (181 minutes for 1/2 emptying time)

I am now wondering if the anorexia caused the paresis or if the opposite may be possible--that for four years we have been treating the paresis with counselling. She is also being treated for hypothyroidism.

Thank you.
