My mother in law has been an alcoholic for over 30 years. She quit drinking about 5 months ago. Unfortunatly, her mind has gone. Her symptoms have been.. socially withdrawn from family and friends, compulsive cleaning all the time, staring in space, she tells us that she is wetting her pants all the time but when we checked her depends, it was dry. She has lost over 40 pounds in 3 months, droopy eyes, unsteady gait, pale, thought about suicide, she would stand at the table for 3 -4 hours when we would visit and not once sit down, in denial, appears depressed, hearing voices in her head and seeing things that were not there.
Medications: lorazepam 0.5 mg od,senokot stool softener 2 tabs BID, macrodantin for a UTI

If you drink too much, you destroy your health. I feel sorry for your mother in law. Drinking alcohol is tempting, but in the long run you destroy your life, if you drink too much.
