question
My wife and I would like to sell our house but her mother lives with us and doesn't want to leave. She has turned down elder housing already and is making it difficult to put the house on the market. If we do move out what do we do about her? We will not take her with us.

One can understand mother-in-laws. When you move, she will feel abandoned and left alone. Who wouldn’t protest against that future prospect. What happens to her, depends on her economic situation and what she wants; once she understands that you do not want to live with her.
