Is there anything that i can do?

I am worried about my mother. Last year my mother's mother died of lung cancer/heart comlications, and around the same time we found out that her father has Alzheimer's disease. She was never particularly close to her mother, but she was to her father. My grandfather has a rapidly deteriorating type of Alzheimer's, so in essence she has lost both of her parents. Add to that the fact that she was already a severely damaged person, stemming from childhood traumas. Out of what she feels must be a duty she moved in with her father to help him out. Now a year after all this started she is severely depressed. She has become an alcoholic. She is seeing a counselor, whom she has personal experience with, since she used to work with my older sister. Out of that time she spent with my sister, my mother found a mistrust of her as a professional. So when she decided to see a counselor she picked this woman, and told my sister that she did so because she does not respect her as a professional, and can therefore ignore everything that this woman says to her. My sister also informed me that the only thing this "Dr." is doing is helping her rehash old wounds from her childhood, and is not telling her how to, or helping her work through them.

Now my question: beyond trying my best to convince her to switch counselors, is there any way I can help her. How do I get her to stop seeing this woman, possibly see a different Doctor, and not so much "force" her to get help but... she truly needs some kind of help. I just don't know what to do.
