question
I am married to my 3rd husband and I had 4 daughters before meeting him and we now have a 3yr old son together.

The problem is he is verbally abusive towards my 2 younger daughters who are now 12 and 8 ( my older 2 moved away) He refuses to let them be kids, they have to clean up always, or do other chores. They aren't allowed to laugh loudly, sing, dance or play. He never physically strikes them although he threatens them with his belt a lot. He calls them hopeless and pathetic a lot and never never speaks to them nicely, he can be perfectly civil to work people or even strangers but not my girls. I have asked him constantly to be nice but he claims they don't deserve it because they can never do what they are told. They are ordinary children and I am not blind to their faults, but they aren't as bad as he sees them. Surely he doesn't need to over-react to everything they do?

I am often thinking of leaving him but I am scared and have no where to go nor the funds to do it.

His son however gets away with everything and gets treats on a regular basis, he's the pride and joy. He even claims that if our son misbehaves that it is purely because he has been corrupted by my daughters.

Is this criminal abuse? Can I do anything? Help me please.

This terrible treatment is dangerous for your daughter. Do they have a good father where they can live, if you cannot leave their stepfather? Or is there some other way to arrange that they do not have to live with the man who abuses them?

Ask a lawyer in your country. The law varies in different countries. Or contact a Women's Shelter.
