According to the HON (HON) a medical webpage should meet the following standards:

Authority

Any medical or health advice provided and hosted on the site will only be give by medically trained and qualified professionals.

Our texts are written by skilled medical and psychological psychotherapists. We provide an additional internal peer review by an other medical experts and try to provide additional peer reviewing to achieve quality control.

Complementarity

The information provided on the site is designed to support, not replace, the relationsship that exists between a patient / site visitor and his/ her existing physician.

The idea of web4health.info is to provide an additional source of information and to motivate people with psychological problems to seek professional help. Our information is not intended to replace professional physician and psychological advice. The Ask-the-Expert service is not intended to offer a diagnosis or concrete therapy advice.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality of data relating to individual patients and visitors to a medical/health Web site, including their identity, is respected by this Web site. The Web site owners undertake to honour or exceed the legal requirements of medical/health information privacy that apply in the country and state where the Web site and mirror sites are located

We try to provide as much confidentiality as possible to our users. We respect the privacy of our clients and offer anonymous contribution to all services. For registered users we will protect the private data.

Where appropriate, information contained on this site will be supported by clear references to source data and, where possible, have specific HTML links to that data. The date when a clinical page was last modified will be clearly displayed (e.g. at the bottom of the page).

The design of each FAQ text offers all relevant information, including author, data of origin and last changes of the text and sources of information. We try to include as much sources as possible but do also refer to our individual clinical experience.

Justifiability

Any claims relating to the benefits/performance of a specific treatment, commercial product or service will be supported by appropriate, balanced evidence in the manner outlined above

We do not want to promote one individual method of therapy or medication. We offer unbiased information and are not influenced in any way by commercial companies or intertests.

Transparency of authorship

The designers of this Web site will seek to provide information in the clearest possible manner and provide contact addresses for visitors that seek further information or support. The Webmaster will display his/her E-mail address clearly throughout the Web site.

The author of each FAQ is cleary stated. You have the option to ask for further information using our Ask-the-expert service or by writing an individual email to our expert team. Transparency of sponsorship

Support for this Web site will be clearly identified, including the identities of commercial and non-commercial organisations that have contributed funding, services or material for the site.

At the present time the webpage is partly sponsered by the eContent program of the EU. The partners use additional funding of their institutions to finance the service.

Honesty in advertising & editorial policy

If advertising is a source of funding it will be clearly stated. A brief description of the advertising policy adopted by the web site owners will be displayed on the site. Advertising and other promotional material will be presented to viewers in a manner and context that facilitates differentiation between it and the original material created by the institution operating the site.

The costs of running the Web4Health web site is partially funded by advertising on the web site. Adverts are clearly marked as advertising, and are placed in specific areas for advertisements on the web site. Most of our ads are provided by Google Adsense, which has policies regarding what content is allowed.
